According to Deavan, the child abuse allegations are in reference to her 5-year-old daughter Drascilla, who was born from her previous relationship. The allegations do not, as far as we know, have anything to do with Taeyang, the 22-month-old son that she and Jihoon Lee share.
Deavan and her representative exclusively shared the following brief statement with Intouch Weekly: “Police have received the evidence of abuse and are taking it very seriously and are working with us closely. The investigation is ongoing, so we will not be able to speak further.”
News of the allegations first broke back in September of last year, after Deavan Clegg had reportedly moved back to the USA with her two children.
She and Jihoon Lee were last shown together on 90 Day Fiance on their season’s finale last year, where they revealed that they had gone their separate ways during the quarantine.
Jihoon Lee’s legal team have denied all of the allegations, and are currently in the middle of trying to obtain proof that their client is innocent.
“He denies the allegations and is actively seeking documentation concerning any alleged proof,” Joseph Alamilla, who is representing Jihoon Lee, said in a statement with Us Weekly.
“Deavan herself indicates that she was not there when it happened and so given the length of time between the incident and her lack of first-hand knowledge,” he continued in his statement, before noting how long it actually took Deavan to make the allegations…
“We are presently seeking to obtain records of the actual complaint and should have an update after we receive the documents. It is unclear why she would wait so long to make such an allegation, but again we should have more information soon,” Joseph Alamilla concluded with Us Weekly.
The public backlash against the estranged couple seemed to have increased after the allegation and separation news first broke out. Deavan shared her frustration through an Instagram comment back in September, which stated, “You don’t know what happened behind closed doors, you don’t know the type of evil that happened. I’m sick of being attacked and blamed and being told I’m a horrible person and I took my son away. You guys don’t know the half of it.”
She continued, “My daughter is healing and I’m healing. Something bad happened that can never be forgiven. I’m done. I’m sick of the lies. I’m sick of pretending it’s OK. I’m done.”
While Deavan has seemed somewhat understandably quiet lately regarding any further details of the case for legal purposes, Jihoon has shared a ‘Go Fund Me’ campaign created in his name to assist with his legal fees. Out of the $50,000 goal, he has already raised over $11,000.
Jihoons “Go Fund Me” shares the following details: “Jihoon Lee from 90 Day Fiance The Other Way needs funds for [his] international custody case to preserve his parental rights. In short, the funds are to help Jihoon Lee with the financial burden of divorce and custody cases that were filed on 12/08/2020 in Utah by his estranged wife.”
The campaign details continued, “She decided to leave their home in South Korea under false pretence with their son and that she would be returning after going to Utah for one month. She did not return and advised Jihoon the last week of July that she would not be coming back.” Other than these details, the campaign also includes that Jihoon has been “working constantly and trying to save up to cover [the] costs himself, [but] the clock started ticking and it become impossible to wait.”
Jihoon added to his shared ‘Go Fund Me’ link, “I’m trying to get back to the meaning of life. Thank you all.” The campaign was created about two weeks ago and there has been a total of 474 donations.
From what we know, Deavan has not publicly responded to the claims made through Jihoon’s ‘Go Fund Me’. She has been sharing many photos of the children on her personal social media account, and most recently posted a picture of little Drascilla with the caption, “My daughter has a voice.. and deserves to be heard. #teamdrascilla I will continue to fight for your right. A child takes time to open up. No time limit should be placed.
We understand these allegations have to be taken very seriously, and there are most likely many more details that must be kept private. As the case continues to unfold, we wish the best for everyone involved, especially the children. We will continue to keep you all updated with what Deavan and Jihoon choose to publicly share.
Deavan’s New Love Interest
Meanwhile, Deavan Clegg’s new boyfriend, Topher, has stepped in with her two kids amid her and Jihoon’s separation. They made their relationship ‘Instagram official’ on September 26th, 2020. Deavan shared an intimate photo with Topher captioned, “Life feels complete with you.”
Apparently, Topher has been a great fit for Deavan and her two children, Drascilla and Taeyang. An insider exclusively shared with US Weekly, “Deavan and Topher’s relationship is absolutely amazing. Her children have really taken a huge liking to Topher.” The insider continued, “He is a hard worker and has fully stepped in as a father role.”
Deavan seems to be making the best out of the situation, as she recently shared on her social media, “Nothing can remove this smile. This is the happiest I and my family have been. I feel complete.”
