Saved By The Bell’s Dustin Diamond Dies From Lung Cancer, Aged 44

We’re very sad to see the reports that Dustin Diamond passed away yesterday, after a brief but “brutal” battle with carcinoma.

The 44-year-old actor – who is best known for playing loveably hopeless Samuel ‘Screech’ Powers on the original Saved By The Bell – was reportedly diagnosed with stage four lung cancer just three weeks ago…

“He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago,” his agent, Roger Paul, said in a statement.

“In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution.

“Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful.”

As expected, many of Dustin Diamond’s Saved By The Bell co-stars took to social media to pay their respects to the actor…

“Dustin, you will be missed my man,” Mario Lopez – who played AC Slater on the show – shared.

“The fragility of this life is something never to be taken for granted. Prayers for your family will continue on.”

Tiffani Thiessen, who played Kelly Kapowski, Tweeted that she was “deeply saddened” by the news…

“Life is extremely fragile and it’s something we should never take for granted. God speed Dustin,” she continued.

Zack Morris actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar also paid his respects to the actor with whom he shared a lot of screen time…

“Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dustin Diamond, a true comedic genius,” he shared in a statement.

“My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

“Looking back at our time working together, I will miss those raw, brilliant sparks that only he was able to produce. A pie in your face, my comrade.”

RIP Dustin Diamond. We’ll be watching Saved By The Bell reruns for the foreseeable future…
